A patients wife comes to take her husband hoem after an MI asks how long they should wait before they have sex. What do u tell her???

a. No waiting necessary
b. 2 weeks
c. 6 weeks
d. They should wait for a normal angiography

Now UW says 6 weeks but MTB says with utmost emphasis no waiting is necessary to have sex after an infarction. Sex does not significantly increase the risk of infarction, because neither the duration nor the intensity of exertion is sufficient to provide ischemia in most cases.

should i go with MTB as Dr. Conrad Fischer jst released this feb 2009 as compared to the question on UW which have been there seince 2006???

i remember checking the above query on the internet, i think it was the aafp site or some similar site which said that the incidence of MI during sexual intercourse decreases 2-4 weeks after infarction, hence there should be some time interval after MI during which sexual intercourse should be avoided

now UW choose 6 weeks as the answer, i think i will agree with UW
