28 year old primigravida at 9 weeks gestation by dates comes to the office because of an abortion attempt.her temperature is 102F (38.9C) her uterus is tender and pus is coming out of the cervix
what is the next best step in management?
a- D&C
b-iv broad spectrum antibiotics
c- obtain cultures
d-hysterectomy
e-measure b hCG

i think 1st thing to be done is giving empirical treatment b4 getting culture and sensitivity.

drms is right first take cultures then give iv ABX then careful D&C

cant wait 3 days( time to obtain culture results ) to treat septic abortion..Start Abiotics....follow it with a D&C

u dont have to wait for the results but first take the samples and while waiting for the results give empirical ABx

The option is obtain cultures...... that kinda suggests suggests culture reports. Give antibiotics and still can send cultures. What is prime is that the pt is septic and the next best thing would be to control infection.....Abiotics, D & C
