Heart sounds: S1 = closure of mitral and tricuspid valves during ventricular contraction (AV valves) After QRS wave/ S2 = closure of aortic than pulmonic valves(semilunar valves) during ventricular relaxation and occurs at end of T wave. S3 = abnormal in adults, but normal in children. Due to RAPID flow from the atria to the ventricles, not sure what it corresponds to on the ECG. S4 = Abnormal in adults and children. can be heard upon filling of ventricles upon contration of atria. Corresponds to the P wave on the ECG. During systole - the ventricles contract, and when the ventricular pressure is greater than the aortic, the aortic valve opens, blood is ejected from the ventricles to the aorta, this is the stroke volume, and the volum remaining at the end of contraction of the heard is the end systolic volum. When all the blood has been ejected, the ventricle relaxes, and when ventricular pressure decreased to less than aortic, and aortic valve closes.

S1: isovolumetric contraction S2: isovolumetric relaxation S3: rapid vent filling S4: atrial sontdaction i think S3 lies after the T wave and i hope i m rite.
