nodnodnodCreighton University/University of Nebraska Program

I have received your request for information about the Creighton University/University of Nebraska Psychiatry Residency Training Program. I am pleased to learn of your interest in psychiatry and in our program. We will be accepting applications only through ERAS.

Three letters of reference are required. Letters of reference should support your qualifications for a career in psychiatry. It is important to have American experience in psychiatry with a reference letter from that site. Letters from U.S. or Canadian physicians who have observed your professional performance are easier for us to verify; therefore, we encourage you to provide ERAS with the names of U.S. and Canadian physicians who know you professionally and personally.

We prefer an average USMLE score of 80; however, if you show particular promise for a career in clinical psychiatry, we may accept somewhat lower scores. Candidates should not have more than two cumulative failures for USMLE 1 and 2.

We support the J-1 visa. Applicants who wish to apply for an H1-B visa must have passed USMLE Step 3 and must use their own immigration attorney. We are seeking candidates who have had relevant residency training or clinical responsibilities in the last three years. Unless the candidate has exceptional, demonstrated promise, candidates who have been away from formal training or the practice of medicine for more than three years are unlikely to be considered. Deadline for applications is December 15, 2008. donot offer prematches

Once the completed application and supporting documents are received through ERAS, your application will be reviewed for a possible invitation to interview. It is our policy to personally interview the most promising applicants so that we can meet them and so that they can better evaluate our program and facilities. It generally requires an entire day for the interview process.

madmadThe Adult Psychiatry Residency Training Program
Department of Psychiatry
Cambridge Health Alliance
Harvard Medical School

1. All applicants for the PGY-1 year are accepted through ERAS. NO interviews will be offered before a completed ERAS application is received.

2. In the event there is an opening in the PGY-2 or 3 year, applications are accepted based on the same criteria as for the ERAS.

3. We accept applications from IMG’s . Applicants must be from an accredited medical school that will meet licensing requirements in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as determined by the Board of Registration in Medicine. In order to obtain a Massachusetts medical license, PGY-1’s must have passed USMLE I,2, and CS ( or Comlex equivalent) . Therefore, we cannot rank applicants who have not yet sent documentation of having passed these exams by January 1.

4. We require graduates of foreign medical schools to have had six months of training in an accredited American hospital in addition to having passed the USLME and Certification by the ECFMG. A strong command of the English language is required, although fluency in an additional language is welcomed. We do not have a cut off for USLME scores, but require documentation of a learning disorder to consider applicants who have had to take the USLME more than once to pass.

5. We sponsor only J-1 visas.

6. We require certification.

7. Physicians applying from another specialty must have graduated medical school or the pgy-1 year within ten years of applying for residency. Eligibility to begin in the PGY-2 year ( when an opening exists) will be made on a case by case basis.

8. To be granted an interview, we require :
- a completed application form
-a dean’s letter
-medical school transcripts
-four letters of reference [at least one from a psychiatrist who can speak directly about your suitability for psychiatry
-curriculum vitae
-a personal statement

We accept applications through ERAS until the end of November, but interview slots are usually filled by the middle of October. All interviews are held in December and January and are based on review of the COMPLETE application.

nodnodMount Sinai School of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals – Elmhurst Hospital Center

This reply will give you answers to frequently asked questions about our residency program. Also attached, you will find our brochure.

We require the following:
- a completed ERAS application by 11/1/08
- some clinical experience in psychiatry, US or other
- fluency in English, spoken and written

We do not have:
- fixed score requirements
- graduation date cut offs

We will have 8 positions for July 2009. July is the only entry date for this program.

We accept IMGs and we have residents on both J1 and H1b visas. ECFMG is the sponsor for the J1; Mount Sinai School of Medicine is the sponsor for the H1b. For all visas, you are required to utilize the International Personnel Office at Mount Sinai and to pay certain processing fees. Those applying for the H1b visas must have the results from Step 3 by the date the MATCH comes out.

We expect to receive over 2000 applications this year and to invite approximately 80 individuals for interviews. Interviews are conducted on most Mondays and Wednesdays from November through January. If you are invited for an interview, you will be asked to select a date. Please choose carefully as it is often not possible to change dates. The interview day lasts from 8:30 AM until approximately 3:00 PM so make your travel plans accordingly. If necessary, you may bring luggage to the hospital on the interview date.

If you have specific other questions, send an email specifying this request to our coordinator, Ms. MaryLuz Bermudez, [email protected]

Please note that, due to the high volume of inquiries, we do not review CVs, LORs or other materials except through the ERAS application.
