What does ''categorical position'' really means?..

  #2

that yo will get 5 years of training and after that you'll be permited to practice as a general surgeon in the US

  #3

u sure?.
and then what preliminary means? this might sound stupid, but i reallydont know,,

thanks a lot for taking the time to anwser_

Preliminary means you have a one year contract. Either they keep you to continue your residency training or they drop you.
Categorical means you have a contract for your full residency training, hence 5 years for surgery...
