hello,

Can we switch fom a Family med residency to a Internal medicine residency after one year after internship

i.e do the internship again in int med and apply for a PGY-1 spot in int med

is it easy to switch and what are the common problems encountered

thanks

You will still need to complete a full 3 year IM residency. The FP year is different from the IM year

Yes I understand that but what about the PD of mu family med. program won't he be mad at me for switching to IM ?

is there a possibility I will get stuck in family med and never be able to switch to IM?

Of course the PD of FM is going to be upset with a resident changing programs - but he will still write you a letter.
