I know what absolute refractory period means. I do know what relative refractory period means. However, I could never understand what effective refractory period means. Can anybody help??

ARP is when an action potential cannot be caused no matter how strng d stimulus.whereas ERP is wen d normal stimulus which is conducted frm d normal surroundin tissue cannot cause depolarisation.

erp &arp are similar that they donot allow action potential to stimulate muscle however high may be the stimulus. what we should remeber is the fact that ERP>ARP God knows why?
