Why drinking caffeine and ethyl alcohol both tend to dilute urine and increase urinary volume ?

Alcohol inhibits release of ADH from post.pituitary causing enhanced diuresis,this effect is also supplemente by alcohol induced release of ANP.....however tolerance develops and this increase urine output subsides after a certain period of time. Upon withdrawal there is increased release of vasopressin from post.pituiitary and consequent retention of water....may cause diluitional hyponatremia .

coffain acts by dilating afferent arterioles and binding to ADH. :roll:
