My cousin was involved in a knife fight. He was transported to the ER and was drifting in and out of consciousness on arrival. I noted a chest wound to the left of the sterum, at the 3rd intercostal space. What is this be?
a. cardiac temponade
b. ruptured pulmonary artery
d. perforation of aorta
e. perforation of left ventricle
f. perforation of the right ventricle
Question spin-off: what the injury be any different it the wound is at the 4th intercostal space?
i think the answer is cardiac tamponade
