In 2021, the Angolan transport and overhead crane market grew by X% to $X for the first time since 2018, ending a two-year downward trend. However, consumption faced a severe downturn during the review period. Consumption of haulage cranes and overhead cranes peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption was at a lower level.

In value terms, the production of transport cranes and overhead cranes is estimated to shrink slightly to $X in 2021 at export prices. During the period under review, however, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2014, the growth rate was the fastest, with an increase of X% year-on-year. During the period under review, production peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, production has remained low.

Angola’s export size of overhead cranes and gantry cranes
In 2021, Angola will export a total of X transport cranes, gantry cranes and bridge cranes, the same as the previous year. Overall, exports recorded significant growth. 2017 saw the fastest growth, with exports up X% year-on-year. Exports peaked in 2021 and may continue to grow in the near future.

In 2021, exports of transport cranes and overhead cranes fell to X dollars in value terms. During the period under review, exports grew strongly. The growth rate was most pronounced in 2015, with an X% increase over the previous year. As a result, exports peaked at X dollars. Export growth failed to regain momentum between 2016 and 2021.

South Africa (X units) is the main destination for Angola’s exports of transport and overhead cranes, accounting for approximately X% of total exports. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of freight traffic to South Africa is +X%.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the leading foreign market for Angola’s haulage and overhead crane exports.

Import Scale of Overhead Cranes and Gantry Cranes in Angola
In 2021, overseas purchases of transport cranes, gantry cranes and bridge cranes finally rose to X units after two years of decline. During the period under review, however, there was a sharp drop in imports. During the period under review, imports reached a maximum of X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Third in the ranking is Turkey (X units) with an X% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of sales from China is +X%. The average annual growth rates of imports for the remaining suppliers are as follows: Portugal (+X% per annum) and Turkey (+X% per annum).

China (USD X) is the largest supplier of transport and overhead cranes to Angola by value, accounting for X% of total imports. In second place is Portugal ($X) with X% of total imports. It is followed by Brazil with an X% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China reaches +X%. The average annual growth rates of imports for the remaining suppliers are as follows: Portugal (+X% per annum) and Brazil (+X% per annum).

China is Angola’s largest supplier of transport and overhead cranes by value, accounting for 44% of total imports. In second place is Portugal, with 12% of total imports. This is followed by Brazil with a 10% share

In terms of value, South Africa remains the main foreign market for Angola’s haulage and overhead crane exports.

In 2021, the average export price of transport cranes and overhead cranes will be USD 2,465 per unit, down -8.5% from the previous year.

In 2021, the average import price of transport cranes and overhead cranes will be USD 3,572 per unit, a decrease of -25.6% from the previous year.
