how much sodium is needed per day for normal functioning? How can diet restriction of sodium cause hyponatremia?

200-500 mg is the recommended amount, although as you know, you can renally resorb enough to drive it lower (calculate GFR over a day x conc. x % resorbed for ballpark absolute minimum). i assume diet restriction of sodium, with regular water intake, gives you a dilutional hyponatremia not unlike sweating and drinking pure water, although it seems more difficult to achieve.
