Hey Choma where have you been? Any progress in your studies?

  #22

Finished MTB. I'll finish the qbank during the weekend and then I'll do the wrong ones and CCS cases. I have 1 1/2 months before my exam.

Hope to be able to stick to this plan!nod

  #23

I finished Ob/gyn and pediatrics questions yesterday. I still have 176 questions left to finish the whole qbank. I'll work on that today and tomorrow.

  #24

Good going fdoctor. You are cruising along in your prep.

Best wishes.

Finished the qbank and now doing CCS cases.

My technique with CCS is to see the case as a patient not as a computerized case that way the management flows smoothly.
I do the case by myself first and then I see the explanation so far I have found only 2 cases that I couldn't finish.

Learning to manage the software was challenging, I would advise to read the USMLE website to learn about it. There is a nice tutorial there. The other problem I had was finding where to write the medications to treat the patient, that stuck me after I got the diagnosis. Well... the medications have to be written in the order sheet. Everything has to be written there; lab, imaging studies, medications, consultation with specialists, counseling... everything except appointments.
I'm probable dumb but I want to share this with you, just in case I'm not the only one heregrin

Let's keep going guys!!

I'm trying to be regular with this preparation. Studying mostly during night time but determined to ACE this exam. I have done 38 cases out of 52, hoping to finish during the weekend. Then I'll do the read out cases(which I consider boring) raised eyebrow

Okis guys see you soon!!!

  #28

I just finished CCS 52 cases. Next move will be a combination of reading the 41 cases and doing the questions I got wrong in the qbank. I'm not really sure about that plan everything could change on the road.nod

By now I'll take a break and will start tomorrow with a clear mind!

  #29

I'm working on doing the wrong questions from the qbank. This is going to take about 5 days, hope to finish by friday. Still lazy about reading those 41 CCS casesgrin

My goal this week is to finish doing the wrong questions and then the next week start reviewing MTB a second time.
After doing that I'll take the NBME or UWSA.

Strong work fdoctor. Keep it up!

Best wishes.

Thank you for your good wishes!!! I hope everything goes well in your exam!!

Finished the wrong questions in the qbank. It was a good review. I'm glad I did it.
I have a headache today so I'll probably go to bedsad

  #32

Hi everyone!!!
As my exam is getting close I'm slowing down(unvoluntarily)disapproval

At least I finished reviewing IM and I don't think I will have time to review the other subjects. I will use the qbank to review those subjects(Peds,Ob/gyn,Psych,surgery) starting tomorrow. Planning on taking NBME on Wednesday.

Good night guys!!!

  #33

I took NBME today my score=410. I got high performance with a star in Medicine and Surgery and somewhat around borderline and above borderline for OBGYN and Psych. Very low performance for Peds.

I have 13 days left so this is the plan:
7 days to do all the CCS cases again and 6 days to read Peds and give a quick review to OBGYN, psych and my own notes.

I know I can do it, no more games is time to take this seriously!!wink

Hey FD, congrats on matching! (I just found out I matched too) Just reading your journal for inspiration... looks like you're progressing very well. I've just started studying for step3. Finding it hard to get motivated at the moment.. anyway, hope that'll change. Good luck in your studies!!

On Mar 30, 2011 - 4:18 PM, fdoctor responded:
Hi Aussiedoc
congrats! is a good thing that we got positive results in the match!

Keep studying set up a date and go ahead!

  #38

Hey FD, I set a date for June 11 and 13... do you know how important it is to get a good score on this exam? Because things are a little crazy now with studying, moving, etc. not sure if I can aim for a 99...

On Apr 01, 2011 - 12:05 PM, fdoctor responded:
A high score is important when you need visa and a better chance to get into residency. That is not your case so study do your best, don´t take it easy this exam is challenging.
There are very loooong questions and you can´t skip some parts as we did for step 1 or CK you have to read it all.

Do your best and you´ll make it, a high score is not important in your case. We matched remembergrin!!!!

  #39

Thanks for your answer!
I've been doing UW and yup, the questions can be very long. I've been reading the answer stems first to focus my readings and I think that's been working for me. Wonder what your strategy is?

I'm trying to study as much as I can for step 3. Definitely can't take it easy. And do you don't think the step 3 score's not that crucial for getting into fellowships?

On Apr 04, 2011 - 8:09 PM, fdoctor responded:
I did UW and had no problem doing questions even the long ones. The questions in the exam are way longer you'll be surprised.

Regarding the Step 3 score for fellowship, I really don't know.

  #40

Hey FD! How's prep going? Busy with organizing stuff for residency?

On Apr 21, 2011 - 7:08 AM, fdoctor responded:
I had no idea I had to fill out so many forms for the credentialing process but I'm almost done.

I got my score yesterday and I passed!!!!nodgrin
