A woman who is affected with myastenia gravis in evaluation of her respiratory muscle function max inspiratory pressure (MIP) and max expiratory pressure (MEP) showed severe decline. which parameter of her pulmonary function test often shows increase?
A. TLC
B. VC
C. RV
D. FEV1/FVC

The correct answer is B. In fact, the best answer should be FVC -Force Vital Capacity because you ask the patient to inhale the maximum volume (thus reaching the Total Lung Volume) which in turn is dependent on all respiratory muscles like diaphragm, intercostals, sternocleiodmastoid. Then you tell the patient to release the most volume he,she can. This function also depends on other muscles (intercostals and thoracic wall muscles mostly). Since Myasthenia Gravis targets the muscle this would be the most relevant spirometric parameter. Supported by both First Aid and the following:
