One Q regarding Goljan RR3:
3.d Increased serum 1,25-(OH)2D
* PTH increases synthesis of 1alfa-hydroxylase in proximal renal tubule
However, errata at www.healthsciences.okstate....dical/pathology/goljan.cfm
makes the following correction:
3.d Decreased serum 1,25-(OH)2D
*Hypercalcemia decreases synthesis of 1alfa-hydroxylase in proximal renal tubule
Is this true? And what is the mechanism?
Have tried to google it, but only "evidence" I have come across is circumstantial, i.e. "calcitriol is decreased because it would exacerbate the problem"...
