why does respiratory acidosis occur in chronic bronchitis and not emphysema, when bloackade occurs in both?
well in bronchitis, main symptom is coughing and in emphy it is dyspnea. to overcome dyspnea, patient breaths fast and thus get rid of excess co2. thus, they have pursed lips and get nickname pink puffers. while those with bronchitis have acidosis and edema, and get nickname blue bloaters.
