Confused with prelim/categorical |

Hello I seem to be alittle confused. I have been looking at programs in freida and some programs state that they do not offer preliminary positions but then if I look it up in myERAS it might have the option of applying for a categorical or advanced position. Wouldn't the prelim position be the same as a categorical position? and what is the advanced position? is that for a subspecialty?
