breath in tablets(terbutaline) is used as tocolytic
also many other beta 2 agonists like isoxsuprine, albuterol can be used
all these cause bounding hear beat..  ...
also MgSo4 in i.v infusion can be used ...all these r used to stop pre term labour..(stopping premature contractions) and giviing time for lung maturity in fetus by giving steroids to mother..but they r not effective when used more than a week..(lose their effect)... ..
contra indications ?? i don't remember anything specific

INDICATIONS...to prolong pregnancy to give steroids in preterm labor for lung maturity
C/I....
1.ruptured memb
2.chorioamnionitis
3.severe abrutio placenta
4.fetal distress
5.IUD
6.fetal anomalies
7.eclampsia or severe preeclampsia
8.advanced cervical dilatation
