What os the next step of management in the case of acute abdomen . Pt is motionless with genarilised pain in the abdomen . Isi sthe Chest X ray or dierct exploratory Laporotomy ? I remember to have studied as Chest X ray to see the air under the diaphragm and if present then go for Expolratory laporotomy.Please clarify .

hi , kaplan says clear cut evidence of acute abdomen like this is sufficient indication for exploratory laprotomy.... work up is needed not to establish thee diagnosis but to exclude the possiblities like EKG - myocardial ischaemia X-RAY chest to R/O lower lobe pneumonia amylase to R/O pancreatitis when these causes r suspected.. (reference kaplan surgery) correct me if i am wrong
