ur patient has been treated for endocarditis with penicillin G for the past 2 weeks. she now has a fever and maculopapular erythematous rash over her chest and abdomen. a urinalysis shows significant protein in urine. if fever, rash, and proteinuria are immunologic in origin, which one of the following is most likely to be involved? a. IgG and complement b. IgE and histamine c. IL2 and CTL d. gamma interferon and macrophages what is the immunologic processes involved here that caused fever, rash and proteinuria, respectively?

u both got it right, guys! can u elaborate a little more on the answer? does rash and proteinuria represent blood vessel damage and therefore a type III reaction? thanks a lot!

yup, i agree it's type 3- it's systemic and not organ specific, as opposed to type2.
