Guys,
is it true, that for IMG-males, obsgyni residency is way too difficult?
sumbdy told this..

bt, i felt, US is not sumthin conservative, like middle east countries..
or rather they say at times, girls are more comfy discussing their gyni probs to male docs...

dunno..

am male n hve immense interest in obsgyni.

the main male/female Ob/Gyn specialist issue is surrounding the money you are gonna make after graduation, the fact that wether patients prefer to go to the male Ob/Gyn office or a female one ?
never heard of any sexual discriminations towards male residency applicants

u mean, obsgyni docs make considerably more money than their medicine counterparts?

no the male Ob/Gyn graduates sometimes has this feeling that the women (patients) may consider to find a female Ob/Gyn: money out of the male specialists pocket

honestly, I have not seen this trend in patients myself, but the topic is a rather hot one in an AMG match forum

I am a OBGYN resident in the USA and I pratice ob for 10 years in my country and there are people from africa and middle east that preffers woman but hispanics prefers males and the rest you will find divided opinions but here I find that as a male you can do it very well.

nowadays the trend is that more females will do ob but the fellowships usually are occupied by males!!!! anyway, you have good chances keep trying

Why would a male go into OBGYN?
1) After 1 year of residency I have never been kicked out of a case because a patient refuses to have a male doctor.
2) You always need a nurse with you for a pelvic exam even if you're a female resident.
3) The best job offers last year were given to the male senior residents.

so unless you have a residency spot as an OBGYN, I would recommend you stop taking nonsense electronikdoc

With a nickname like "Principito" I would hardly classify you as a male my friend.

But congratulations on your success so far. grinwink
