Alprostadil???
its a PG-E1 analogue.
In chiledren with cogenital ht disease -to keep open the ductus arteriosus.
increase blood flow locally by dialaton of the vasculature-used in impotency

this is what I learned from Katzung: PG E1 is used to keep ductus arteriosus open in kids with great vessels transposition. PG E1 as alprostadil is used to treat impotence (injected into penis directly!!). PG E1 analogue misoprostol is used with RU486 for abortion.

I dont know if alprostadil is also used in great vessels transposition, could you give me a clue, asmi? Is alprostadil PG E1 itself or is it an analogue?

I guess it is PGE1 only ,not a analogue!!!! :oops:

Alprostadil is also used to treat Claudicatio intermittens. It's injected intravenous here.

The most important effects are:

- dilatation of the small arteries
- inhibits thrombocyte aggregation

CAN DINOPROSTON BE ALSO USED ALONG WITH RU486?
