Anemia is there because hypothyroidism causes NCNC anemia.

[quote="dimps"]All of the following are characterstics of panhypopituitarism except a) occurence of myxoedema b)decreased melanin production c)emaciation and cachexia d)loss of pubic and axillary hair e)moderate normocytic and normochromic anaemia[/quote Can someone tell why there is NCNC anema in hypothyroidism? Son64, please explain! :?: Also I don't understand why not "emaciation and cachexia"? Thanks dimps for the question; but quite confuse on it!

anemia in hypothyroidism is considered to be an adaptation to the lower basal metabolic rate. thyroid hormone either directly or indirectly thru erythropoietin stimulates the colony stimulating factors.
