I was schedueled to take Step 2 Cs on 14th aug in Atlanta... i have applied for the visa thrice here in pakistan... the reason i was given the third time was that.. " your ultimate goal is to live and work in US if you get a j1 and then you will call your husband on Spouse visa, so your application has been denied." when i said" isn't that the legal immigration law, he replied.. yes it is but i am sorry.. you can go now, I just dont get it.. this is bullshit excuse...ECFMG requires us to take these exams so that we can get into Graduate Medical education.. if the Embassy has problem with that then ECFMG should stop conducting these exams so that there is no illusion for the IMG's... i have extended my exam date and will apply once more... this case is not the only one.. on my interview day , there were 7 othere doctors and all were denied the visas for the exam.. it is not easy to invest so much time & money..it is actually very frustrating... US emabssy should announce its policy and ECFMG should stop conducting exams if they cannot guarantee a visa. They should not fool us by opening their doors for exams and then not giving Visas.

Hi Mozzy, I am a doctor and living here in US. I now have green card (Alhamdullilah) but I have been through these rough roads of immigration. I read your angry mail and would like to advise you about few things. Please note that US consulate are not doing wrong if they are denying your visa (please dont get me wrong, I am trying to explain their policy). Try to understand the basic theme first. J1 visa is called exchange sponsorship visa and only allows IMGs to come to US, complete their trainings and then go back. IT IS NOT A PERMANANT WORK PERMIT. the reason why he/she is denying your visa is because you must be arguing with them that its a work permit and you have allowed work on it. NO you have to satisfy him that you have a very good job in Pakistan and all you want to do is go there and take your graduate training and then COME BACK. This is very important to show them your employement letter from Pakistan and then satisfy him in any way that you are going to come back. Arrange all the relevant documents showing that you have job in Pakistan, parents, property, bla bla bla in Pakistan and it is not possible for you to leave Pakistan. And then attach a letter from your employer that you have been granted leave of absence for 3 years so you could complete your training in US. Dont show that you have any relatives in US. Show your good bank balance with atleast 10 K USD in account. If you follow on these lines you will inshallah get visa. Dont worry once you get the visa and then come here , nobody is going to ask you why are you calling your spouse on your dependant visa or afterwards applying for J1 waiver. Best of Luck Well Wisher

 come on lets face the truth...aren't the people at the u.s. embassy right? how many IMGs come to america and then go back to their own countries to practice medicine? isn't the whole purpose of coming to america, taking the boards, and doing the residency is so u can stay and america and make money?
