Some patients have recurrent episodes of hypersomnia, which often is associated with compulsive overeating and hypersexuality. This presentation is termed Kleine-Levin syndrome

idiopathic hypersomnia is defined as a disorder of presumed CNS cause that is associated with excessive sleepiness consisting of prolonged sleep episodes of non–rapid eye movement sleep

True; and Kleine-Levin syndrome is seen more in male aged 10-25y, can sleep as long as 18h a day, acute illness or fatigue may precede an episode, which may occur as often as several times a year, along with behavioral distrubances, impaired thought processes and hallucinations.
