Q. acute arterial occlusion. unequivocal sign indicating surgery
a. pain
b. paraesthesia/loss of sensation
c.paralysis
d. pallor
e. coldness

In thromboembolism, the timing is critical for surgery. Surgery is only indicated if there is chance for improvement after reperfusion, otherwise anticoagulation is the Rx.

I think pain shows ongoing ischemia, so it would be an important factor in considering surgery.

Severe ischemia is suggested by Paralysis and Profound Sensory loss. So that is the indication for immediate surgery. Not pain!!! If its painfull, you have some flow still. So you can try thrombolytics.

hey guys the answer mentioned is Paralysis, i had answered pain as well , and wanted to get some feedback.

Just read above... Paralysis is the the sure sign of impending tissue death. Pain...is not as urgent.
