I distinguish them like this (my own defintions):

Schizoid - a person who 'does not socialize'. No friends. Night owls working on night shifts. Can carry out normal life but lives in his own world.
Schizotypal - a mini schizophrenia. have bad social relations, ideas of persecuation (ppl are against me). The thought pattern is like schizos but no hallucinations. They are kinda always having problems with ppl.

Avoidant- a shy person. cannot face people, cannot speak publically etc
Dependent- cannot make decisions independently and very submissive.

Borderline personality- always a female. Splitting is always there. Unstable mood and recurrent suicide attempts (but never die).

These are just my own images, not academically correct necessarily. But I found it pretty helpful in solving most of the qs. The way to memorize them is that look around and you ll definitely find a person with one of these traits. Then you name your own personality disorders.. wink.. BAAAAD.. but works.

Some suggest to me finding example of each disorder in the people around you....but, don't tell them you are doing this. That is a sure way to loose friends quickly. So, when you get a question on a schizoid personally disorder it will remind you of your next door neighbor....whom you never see.... Hope this helps... Does anyone know of a good site for behavioral questions? Especially personally disorders....I always have to review them right before an exam.
