hey everyone,
I gave STEP 1 on 27th may, got a good score but thats besides the point. As soon as my result was declared, I applied online and sent in my CS forms...the certification statement.
I am hoping to get a date of mid to late december...anywhere I dont care....
Just wanted to ask you, how long do the ecfmg ppl take to send u the permit...a couple of my friends sent in their forms 3 weeks ago and they still havent received the permits....but on the web site, they say that they will process our forms in 10 calendar days....did anyone had such a delay in their CS forms processing....I trekked my courier package and it was delivered this thursday so guess have to wait and pray...
I also wanted to ask, that supposingly I get a date like 29th december....how will that effect me in matching...I want to do Internal Medicine....still havent given STEP 2 but will give it in October...will my results be in time for the match...I heard quite a lot of interview calls come on the basis of the STEP 1 results....

ECFMG takes 10-14 days after they receive the certification statement. If you are overseas, its likely to be delayed because of the postal factor. I hope you ll get it soon.
My personal (purely personal) view is that you can get a lot of calls on the basis of your step 1 score, IF you have already appeared for step 2 at the time of sending out application. In case you dont appear in 2 at time of application you can still get calls but not as much. This is what happened to my friends.
The factor of CS wouldnt make much effect on your getting calls, as PDs would probably know this factor of transition from CSA to CS and they ll accomodate candidates even if they wont have a CS result with them. AMGs would have same problems atleast for this year.. they ll get their results for CS late, so its a universal problem. The only factor that can effect your plans is the visa factor, if you dont have any problem at that front, I think you d be fine.

Thanks a lot guest whoever you are,
Your words were really encouraging for me. I got a 99 in STEP 1 and have got a B1 visa for 5 yrs....By the time I get called in for interviews, I will probably have my STEP 2 score as well....
Now I only hope that I get my permit in time....Dont they send the STEP 2 CS permit online rather than mail it??
Anywayz, do you have any idea of opening of evening slots, like in philly, once the booking date reached 31st December, they opened PM slots but only for AMGs....Can the same happen for the other places and this time for everyone?? Does anyone have any news...

yes they email you the coupon for CS. Good score, hope u ll do good on 2 as well.

don't wait for 2cs permit to come.
Just phone ecfmg
give them your fax no
ask them to send the permit by fax,
so you get within hours & fax is also valid!
I did it this way!!!!

But how come they gave you a 5 year B1 visa?

hey,
I sent in my application on 3rd July, they got it on the 7th July as my courier company confirmed it, today is 13th.
Do you think I should call them now to tell them to fax it or call them later.....It hasnt been 10 business days yet...
and dont they send the permit by email so do u think sending it by fax would expedite it??
When did u call them and did u get it sooner than 10 days...I mean they take 10 business days to process ur application....
Please do suggest what I should do as I am desperately in need of the permit so I can take a date as early as possible....

No they actually snail mail you the permit and a letter to the concerned department for Visa issues. you can print the confirmation of your testing appointment from Internet but permit will be mailed to you. I dont know about the Fax thing though. i live in Karachi- Pakistan and i recieved my permit within 10 days of Oasis update. But better be quick about the application process if you have to get a Visa because it takes long for males to get a visa and who knows one might need to apply more than once. this happened to me.

once your 2cs application is processed , u can automatically get the date all u need is your ecfm id & password.
I actually needed the 2cs permit for my visa.

Oh ok, so the fax thing is about the visa....
I already have a visitors visa, luckily got a 5 yr visa in 2003...so I guess I should wait for OASIS to process my application...

if you want to know when they have processed your appln before oasis tells you,
just go into the ecfmg.org
Try to get the date for step 2CS with your ecfmg id & password,
If they have processed, you will get the date!
That's it, you don't have to wait for oasis to update.
it may be wise to try to do within or after 10 days of our they acknowledging the receipt of the application form.

Hi Guys
I need some advice..I have posted my cs application's form 183 part on 2nd of July ,from TX to PA ,with priorty mail ...It has been already 17 days and I think they must received it last week..But as today I am checking oasis and nothing appears regarding it (received /in process/rejected)
My question is should I call ECFMG ,or wait couple more days..What can I do :|

Though ECFMG fantasize "within 10 days" for processing of 2cs, it commonly does not happen in actual practice.
They probably start processing within 10 days for online submission, finish it by 2-3 wks.
If u have sent it by mail, it may take a month or more.
There is no harm in calling up, though it takes more than 5 min to get someone to answer your call.

Hey alice,
we probably r in the same boat. I posted it on the 3rd of July, they probably got it on 7th as my trekking website told me....but still no news from them...
My friend posted it on the 20th and he received his permit on the 12th of July so I guess we can wait a little longer...I guess it should come this friday or the coming Monday or Tuesday...Where r u scheduling ur CS??
Do tell me when ur permit comes...

I am tired of checking oasis all day long and getting nothing ,till now ...I am also waiting postman everyday ,there is nothing in the mail for me ,as well :roll: .I am a little bit exhausted ..
Salman ,I would like to schedule my CS at Houston ,20's of October or something like that ..I will let you know as soon as I got my permit ..

Today I called to the ECFMG and they told me that now it takes at least 15 business day. I am exhausted too.

hi salman,
i read ur post today.i applied for step 2 cs on july 22 including certification statement.it will reach PA tommorrow.did u get ur permit.if so how long it took for the processing and permit .did u call ecfmg or did they email u the permit.i need toi get a date as early as possible.passed step 1 not yet received the score.please do reply and give me some suggestion or others too can help me please

Hey Salman,I have just received that e-mail too  ..I am going to check the oasis today ,and also tomorrow ,as soon as they take the money from my account I think it will let me to register for CS ,let's wait and see...I assume that there is no problem with my application right now :roll:
I have sent my application's form 183 part on 2nd of July ,I think they received it on 7th of July ,lets say it takes 10 business days for me te receive that 'application is in process e-mail' ,and I think I am expecting to receive my permit at the begining of next week..

hi my frienf also applied for step 2 cs and she got her permit after 20 days via email. i have also applied for that and waiting for the permit. hope we all get our desired dates for it.

Today I received another email from ecfmg regarding my cs applications acceptance and couple minutes ago I took my cs date to 5th of October at Atlanta ...What a relief ,I hope you also got your date nowadays ...Good luck :wink:
