For answer on these question it will be better for you read some parts in physilogy text-book, because your question is basis of medicine

for the two first question i think you you can find the answer in any immunology/pathology books.

about the Left-Shift it is very simple : in case of any infection or a similar reaction PMNs increase in proliferation and differentiation, that is to say if you take a Bone marrow sample you will see a larger portion of Late precoursers and Mature PMNs than EARLY PREMATURE ones this is called a LEFT-SHIFT. However is this is really Big in magnitude then we should speak of "EXtreme Left shift" which usually spill over (MATURE+IMMATURE CELLS) to the peripherial blood which is pathognomic for CML but another condition which mimics this Extreme left shift is called "Leukemoid reaction" which happens in Extreme Systemic Infectons
