in another words - acute hemorrhage gastritis or stress ulceration Prophylaxis: given antacids or H2-receptor antagonists to keep the gastric pH above 5. Treatment: correcting the underlying problem Surgical treatment is rarely necessary and is associated with a high mortality Radiography, embolization can be performed to identify the main artery bleeding and stop blood flow

Shouldnt we treat the stress ulcers with H2-antagonists or PPIs, while removing the cause at the same time???

Thanks for the addition, docdoc. I think for stress ulcer only, PPIs or H2-antagonists will help; in case of acute hemorrhage gastritis, embolization through radiography is the procedure of choice for it. Any thoughts?
