Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Hi Everyone,

I completed my internship in August 2003 and I have not touched my books during the internship and after it too until today. I want to start preparing for the USMLE coz I am in the States and I think it is high time I started doing it again. I am planning to take the kaplan coaching for USMLE and I need some advice regarding how I go about that. Specific questions I am looking for are:

1. Should I study all the subjects in depth before joining the coaching or is it adequate if I just give a reading and join the coaching and learn the stuff in depth there.

2. Is reading the kaplan study material enough or do I need to follow the First Aid to USMLE Step1 book and read all the material listed there.

I would really appreciate it if anyone took the time to reply to this thread. The need to study struck me late and I am really worried about how things are going to turn out. I'll be looking forward to replies from you all.

Thank you
MSP

I haven't taken the course but I would imagine that you would absorb much more if you gave the books a reading or at least a lookover before the course- if you have the time. I took my test today and for the most part i felt Kaplan covered much of the material aside from patho which should be done from Goljan or BRS. I also like BRS Beh Sci even though Kap did cover much of the info - but i preferred the BRS presentation of it.
