regarding angioplasty alone versus stent insertion, WOF is true a. dec restenosis but no inc in acute complications b. stents should only be used if angioplasty has failed c. stents are contraindicated in sev multivessel dis d. dec complic but not decr re-stenosis rate e. stents are useful in all infarct patients

Stenting has decreased restenosis rate without any increase in complications.

Yes, less restonsis rate with stents. Angioplasty without stenting has become almost obsolete. In severe multivessel disease (in diabetics) stenting is not contraindicated, however its difficult and pts get more benefit with CABG. Complication rates for both are same, balloon angioplasty without stenting has more complication re thromboembolism and restenosis. Stents are not useful in all cases of infarction. No study has proven the benefit of primary angioplasty with stenting over thrombolytic therapy. So primary angioplasty is indicated mostly in pts with hypotension, reinfarction or resistant chest pain.
