Not if you want to be board certified in Internal Medicine. All three years of residency must be done in the USA. Occasionally, if your program director deems that your previous work and educational experience warrants that you only need 2 years of training, you can be granted an exception. Warning - I have only seen this three times since I started working in 1988. It's not common practice and the proof that you have to provide, is astronomical. Also, for the ABIM boards (American Board of Internal Medicine), they can still say that you have to do the three years. Don't hope too much on this one - sorry!! :oops:
