Usually benign, 5-10% malignant.
Assoc with MEN 1.
Surgery is the preferred treatment Solitary tumors are removed, but 15% of gland should be left, to prevent malabsorbtion.
Medical treatment:diazoxide (K-receptor simulator) A diuretic is always given with it.
Octreotide can be used to suppress insulin secretion.
Streptozocin- DNA cross linker, and RNA, DNA and protein synth. inhibitor. Used in pacreatic tumors and and carcinoid tumors.

Done deal... from now on please consider MDWannabe as Asmi and Asmi as MDWannabe. However, in case of confusion of MDWannabe with Asmi, please remember, that MdWannabe, is really a wannabe, not an MD yet, and Asmie, although shall be called MSWannabe, is in fact an MD. These changes are to be considered valid hereonto and untill further notice is issued.
