hi friends

I am trying to find answer for this question

if you admit a patient lets say for diverticulitis in hospital and put her /him on metronidazol and ceftriaxon IV .and want to to keep her/him on iv antibiotic for 5 days .do you have to re-write the same order during 5 day of hospitalization for your patient ?or just move the clock forward till discharge time (on 5th day) and switch to oral ,set an out patient appointment and order about diet and ....

my main concern is " re-writing the same order during 4 days of hospitalization ..or not jump to day 5th or whenever before discharge "

how to show duration of treatment like 7 days of in hospital on iv antibiotoc.

thanks.

hi... there isnt a way to type duration of treatment... once u type a drug and say cantinuous... that will just keep on being administered till u cancel it...

so u just got to advance clock to day 5 and cancel the iv drug and type in the oral drug...

oh and you shouldn't jump to day 5 i think. better check the patient daily until day 5 comes.

review the patient daily or 12 hourly( depending on clinical condition). Order additional tests/ treatment/councelling when necessary.
You don't decide when to discharge on admission. Review the patient and discharge when you think it's appropriate.
