hi guys,
can somebody please explain HY facts about conjugation, transformation, transduction. thanks

Conjugation ...done with F-pilus, almost like sex, transfer of plasmid DNA from F+ (the one aho has F-pilus) to F- bacteria (the one who does not have it). Gebe for F-pilus is trasfreed as well, so post Conjugation all F- become F+.

Transformation-is the process by which bacterial cells take up naked DNA molecules. If the foreign DNA has an origin of replication recognized by the host cell DNA polymerases, the bacteria will replicate the foreign DNA along with their own DNA.
It almost same as bateriophage infection.

Transduction-when Bacteriophages infect bacteria, in the process of assembling new virus particles, some host DNA may be incorporated in them. Now the next bactertia infected with the "new" virion will be be presented with additional DNA from "original" host.

Most of Ab resistance is spread this way.

Who was it... Griffith or Avery... one of those early DNA guys... they used what, E.Choli's ability for transformation to prove that bacteria surrounded by different DNA would eventually get different fenotype? Or was it some other microbe?
