Hi pals:
A man who has a very low level of G6PD sometimes has a meal of fava bean and uses aspirin and sulfamides with no symptoms or signs(I mean no jaundice nor hemoglobinuria), How do u explain this:?:

One explanation can be:
G6PD deficiency is inherited as an autosomal recessive disease. In heterozygous individuals, the G6PD levels are low, but still enough to evade some degree of oxidant stress. Severe signs and symptoms appear when pt is homozygous. (same concept as sickle cell disease)

Another explanation can be that pt is taking some antioxidants ..

G6PD is xlinked recessive. Thanks
