In this chapter ,in kaplan notes page 36 ,they have mentioned caculation of initial reexpansion for a Q on severe hyponatremic dehydration.Can anybody explain me why we should calculate initial reexpansion.

Initial reexpansion is needed b'coz in this case the child is in hypovolumeic shock...& the best way to get the child out of it, is rapid Volume expansion which can be done only by IV bolus of IVF(which is calculated by intial reexpansion formula 20ml/kg)
