You know that the role of catheter in the diagnosis of congenital heart diseases is to measure the pressure. Is there another role(s)?

Cardiac cath in children can be diagnostic as well as therapeutic.

Other than taking pressures (which helps in making diagnosis as well as selecting proper treatment), cardiac cath is also used for therapeutic purposes. Small ASD and PDA closures are done. Also Aortic stenosis stenting and Pulmonary artery dilatation can be done through catheterization in kids.

Yes, but keep in diagnosis field please.
I think you can detect the very small VSD and ASD by using oxymetry, thereupon you will see an unusual oxygen concentration in the right chambers. Any comment?
