the anterior 2/3 taste is facial nerve, pain is CN V, mandibular branch
Posterior 1/3, taste and pain is CN 9
All the way back, its CN 10
All motor innervation is CN 12

Can you tell me what connects thyroid to tonge, and if that persists in adult life, what is that called?

is that thyroglossal cyst?
thanx.

  #4

Thyroglossal duct if it is patent. If it is completely obliterated there is the foramen cecum at the junction between the ant 2/3 and post 1/3
Sometimes the thyroid is fully functional at the tongue, one case where you dont remove a lump wink

Yes, i think you meant to say thyroglossal duct, but you are right, and remnant resuls in foramen cecum, and tonge is the most common location for ectopic thyroid tissue.
