Iīm sorry if this may sound a bit dumb, but Iīve heard that you can take Step 2 without having taken Step 1. Is this true? The reason I ask this is because here in Brazil we have to take a test at the end of medschool to get into any residency and this test is very similar to Step 2. Since Iīm already studying for it I thought I could take Step 2 by the end of this year and afterwards take Step 1. What do you think? Thanks for any input you guys can give me.

U can surely take step 2 before u take step 1,i think it would eb wise to take step 2 now since ur doin a similar kind of exam.

Thanks tasneembanu. Thatīs probably what Iīll end up doing. Idonīt know if thatīs waht happens in other countries, but here in Brazil we get a great clinical education but a very poor basic sciences background, thus Step 1 is the hardest test for us.
