She's on anticoagulants after her DVT so it's possible it's a IC bleed.

I agree with #1 and #3, but I think #2 might be B. Thiazides are the DOC for urate stones, I believe, since they target the end-organ.

You may be right. For a long-term prevention, though, it seems like allopurinol would be better. Thiazides may limit the excretion but the serum level will build up somewhat. Maybe HCTZ for acute treatment and allo for long-term?

ANSWERS: 1) E 2) C 3) E Explanation: 1) E becuz UTIs are not associated with BPH as its a separate disorder (NMS) 2) K-citrate is given for uric acid stones. Allopurinal is an adjunctive treatment. Thiazides are for Ca stones (NMS) 3) E (same as Bellkicker's)

I figured residual urin facilitated bacterial growth. One could even argue that if the answer is stones, then that in itself would increase UTIs Oh well. Good questions!
