I am studying the gross anatomy of Kaplan webprep, and I find it is really painful for me so that I almost lose my patience. Seems Dr. James White just quickly reads the low-yield gross anatomy structures and embriology development, and little USMLE correlation in his course. I have finished the Biochemistry part of this course and it is extremely helpful!!

Please don't take my word for it, but I just took the test and all the anatomy and embryo was pretty easy.... I could have skipped it all in my studies and went off what I learned in school... I took gross anatomy recently though.... that's my piece.

Hey I took Anat 8 years ago, and I have to say usmedman is right. Anat on the test was very basic. I didn't need to study for it. When I was reading Kaplan notes, I thought for sure their anat section was just not enough. But it seems like it was way too much. I am not comfortable saying skip studying it at all, because you never know. But it really doesn't seem to be emphasized. Back in India, anat was the King of subjects. But in general, US med schools don't focus on anat anymore. One of the Fellows in my dept went to Duke med and said she only took 6 weeks of anat. So keep that in mind. Keep in mind that I think all Kaplan tapes are a waste of time. Just read the notes. If you don't have a job or clinics to do, and have the time to first watch all the tapes (and there's what, 100+ hours of them), then they are a good way to reinforce what you are reading. But I felt like I spent too much time trying to get through the tapes before I gave up and just studied the notes.

Thanks for replying!! I am in the middle of Kaplan webprep, and I am very happy with the Biochemistry, Genetics and physiology, but I am not satisfied with the Anatomy. I am not good at anatomy. I don't know where I should concentrate and what I should memorize and how deep I should understand for many chapters except the upper, lower limbs and CNS.

In my opinion, the most high-yield anatomy is all you should bother with and 50% of it seems to be relegated to brachial plexus/arm injuries and leg nerve injuries. You should know more or less where all your organs are. That's it.
