Will the offspring of a SCID's pt treated with cloned normal genes inherit the normal gene?

  #2

I dont think so because in humans they don't use cells which will be transmitted to offsprings, those are used in transgenic mice.

no, bcoz wat we use is somatic gene therapy and dat doesnt pass on to offsprings..
germ line gene therapy has not been tried on humans yet.

Correct smiling face
It won't be inherited because the cloned genes were introduced into somatic cells and not reproductive tissues, the offspring would inherit the defective allele.
our kaplan biochem review proffesor mentioned this question

SCID is a disorder due to numerous causes...one of which is ADA deficiency.Causes accumulation of toxic dATP.....leckocytes most susceptible to accumulation of toxic substance rendering vulnerable and ineffective.Infections in SCID can be anything from bacteria, virus, fungal and protozoas because both T and B lymphocytes are abnormal.
