i would greatly appreciate if anybody could give me some advice about the dillema i am facing right now. as we all are aware of the implications of J1 visa for canadian IMGs, i am looking forward to getting a residency on H1 visa. the problem is that as i am interested in the field of emergency medicine (which unfortunatly happens to be 'bit' more competetive than specialities like IM/FP), there are not that many EM programs who sponsor H1 . i just want to ask u all that assuming a worst case scenario in case i do fail to get any hospital sponsor me a H1 visa than what should i do ? should i start my residency on J1 (in case some hospital says that we only sponsor J1 and not h1) or should i drop a whole year and try again for the H1 in next match (2006). i am currently concentrating on my step 2 exams (CS is on 14th oct) and i'll be able to take step 3 only by early next year and in case u think that i shud keep j1 as my backup than i have to take MCCEE also in coming january so im pretty confused at this point. should i take both EE and step 3 or should i forget about EE and focus on step 3. any sort of advice will be a great help for me. thanx
