A 68-year old hospitalized patient presents to you with severe congestive heart failure with significant hypotension. You prescribe dopamine (Intropin) over dobutamine (Dobutrex) because:

A. Dopamine, but not dobutamine, increases cardiac output.
B. Dopamine, but not dobutamine, decreases renal blood flow.
C. Dopamine, but not dobutamine, increases total peripheral resistance.
D. Dopamine, but not dobutamine, activates ß1 receptors.

Dopamin stimulate

Dopamine receptor  renal vasodilatation (low dose)

B1 receptor  cardiac dose (intermediate dose)

alfa receptor  vasoconistricting effect (high dose)

Dobutamine stimulate only

BETA- RECEPTOR
 increase cardiac contractility and peripheral vasodilatation(decrease peripheral vascular resistance)

So it is C

You are right Hiwa, although the primary reason dopamine is given is for its renal vaodialatory properties to prevent ischemiac necrosis, but at high dose there is perepheral vasocinstriction, which increases PVR.
