Thanks for the advice. Because my brother has been non-compliant  with the first liver he received for over 6 years  (no hepatology followup, no bloods, doc shopping with internists who actually prescribed cyclosporine without tracking his levels and forcing him to go to the transplant center), chances are slim that he will be eligible for another transplant (two centers have let me know that).

Also, because he was transplant 14 years ago (liver) and now his kidneys have failed, patients who have been transplanted in the past with one organ and now need that organ again plus another one do not thrive. The doctor said that the chances of survival are low to the point that they don't do the surgery.

I have a good rapport with the liver transplant department at the hospital where I work, who referred me to another transplant center - and that appointment was not successful - fair, truthful, but not eligible for transplant.

They have done a PCT (last Friday) to see if there is scarring in the bile duct that goes from the liver to the small bowel and currently the family is waiting to hear the results from that procedure. His bilirubin last week was 25.8, it was down to 20, but back at 22 yesterday. And blood pressure that runs 88/55 to 103/63. Not good, eh?

Aren't you sorry that you asked?
