to tell you the truth, i never even looked at the 300pp notes that go with the audio. in the lectures, he tells his students not to waste time writing things down bc they're all in the notes, and he keeps emphasizing his 100pp. i think if you pay attention to him, you won't need the 300pp. the 100pp. has all the important points (but i's not enough to read just 100pp. bc they don't give you a deep understanding--they just help you cut down your thinking time on some questions). i think the lectures are the same; i don't see anything missing. about 37 hours, right? i realized i wasn't missing anything (but those 5 minutes) after all. thanks again for your good wishes!

trisha, i didn't think the long goljan was necessary as long as you paid attention to the audio. but i've heard many good things about the new usmle goljan book.

If one has time, the 300 pages book is awesome. He is an excellent teacher! But it's up to you, depending on how much time you have left and what stage you're in. Good luck! A.

Hi !! congratulations for u r nice score. hope you will share your experience and guide me correctly. Currently I am using Kaplan notes & q banks of 2000 edition. Please let me know if 2000 edition will be good enough to score or I need to go for higher version kaplan edition like 2002-2003. Thanks

actually, i have no idea about the kaplan material. anyone else know? i would think that if you know 2000 very well you'll be fine, but make sure you get updated info on things like HIV, blood pressure, diabetes, etc. probably all of that stuff can be gleaned from first aid. good luck!

actually, i don't know as i don't have experience with kaplan notes. i don't think there is a change. i know they stopped using negatively phrased qs (e.g. "which one is NOT...") but i think that happened bf 2000.

Hey Nuprin, Answer this for me please? What is A2 in cardiac physio? for example....in mitral stenosis decreased interval between A2 and opening snap! I have no idea what they are talking about.... it's something to do with left atrail contraction and ''a'' wave of venous pulse? if yes what's this 2 stands for? Thanks!

oh no, it's the second heart sound corresponding with the closure of the aortic (not pulmonic) valve.

Thanks! I knew you would answer me. You can see I can't think straight anything now! i am getting very tired! Now i see P2 is associated with pulmonic valve closure? Nuprin how many hours did you read in your last weeks? I am trying as much as i can but getting very tired lately for no reason.... what should i do? take some time off??? it very worries me? I should be reading no less that 10 hours now! I get easily tired and can't concentrate even for couple of hours..... i am revising my simulated Kaplan now and can't believe how much i missed becuase of luck of thinking! How did you do?

yeah, P2 is pulm valve closure. i kicked it up a lot in the last few weeks, but it's useless to try and do 10 hours if you're too tired to absorb! maybe a day off is in order for you. make sure you're getting enough sun, enough vitamins (esp your B vitamins! i started getting glossitis bf i started taking a multivitamin everyday), and enough iron. perhaps you should go to the dr--you could be anemic! or it just could be fatigue, in which case you should take a day off. relax, don't think about the boards at all.

i don't remember if i had one of those qs or not. but try goljan audio and text both. robbins review is great, too. also the brs physio chapter is good. i don't know if this is what you're having trouble with, but if it's starling forces, what i find useful is drawing a tube and writing everything capillary inside and writing everything interstitial below the tube. then line up the Ps and subtract top to bottom, the pi's and subtract top to bottom, then subtract the differences between the Ps and the Pi's. does that make any sense??
