Quick question guys as I don't remember now.

How do you tell in a physical exam? Leg below knee is posteriorly dislocated and when pull that part of the leg, it goes further than it's supposed to? :?

Tell what? Anterior Drawer sign is done to determine viability of Posterior Cruciate Ligament. You aske the pt to bend the knee, or dagle it off the side of bed, then grab with both hands the calf muscle, and gently pull...there should be almost no movmnt anterior, since the liganent is already andre stress.
Does that answer it? Or you meant something else.

I don't think so mdwannabe. A positive anterior drawer test means that there is an ACL tear, not PCL tear!
And also, there is movement beyond the normal range (you have a tear that's not keeping the tibia in place)...not like you said. I was just not sure if it was in the anterior direction.

And yes, to answer my own question, a positive anterior drawer test is when there is too much anterior movement (in the direction of the physician). Too much POSTERIOR movement (away from the physician) is a sign of PCL.

I posed this question because sometimes we get lost in big complicated questions but forget the simple ones that have a greater chance of being asked.

Yeah, and that entire highlighted sentence is incorrect.

Peace out!

sure there are orphograpic mistakes...but the rest is true...if leg is extended..but not locked...both ACL and PCL are laxed...when leg is flexed...ACL is under stress...
So what is wrong with that...??

Hey MD WANNABE, you might wanna read a little more about MS injuries as you got everything backwards.
Good test though Bela. You got one bite.

Thought this was beaten into the ground:

Theres 2: one for the knee, one for the ankle:

Knee-pull tibia forward at 90 degrees-laxity=ACL injury test symmetry

Ankle-knee flexed, quad relaxed, cup heel stabilize tibia, pullforward on the
heel. Asymmetric anterior excursion=ankle instability
