Hello All:

I am new to this forum. Very nicely set. I was wondering if anyone has answer to this question:

Is there a restriction or difficulty for Iranian physicians who LIVE in Iran to register and take USMLE ?

Regards,

HI,
I also live in Iran. Haven't yet passed any on the steps, but know that no restrictions exist. Why do you ask that? What do you know more?

Salam:

I found out that the only possible difficulty might be the visa to enter USA for CSA portion of USMLE.

That is all I know. It seems that US sometimes makes it harder, or perhaps denies entry, for natives of certain countries.

I also have to tell you that these information should not dissappoint you in any way to avoid USMLE. These are political decisions which have been played upon firmly on both side of the spectrum. Take the exams, apply for visa, I am sure that like others you'll find a way to attend CSA.

Good luck in your exams.

Hi. I do not think so, you can see a lot of IMG s from many parts of this planet working and even teaching in the U.S.This is the land of opportunity , you just need to work hard toward your goals and you will reach it.good luck.

Hi,
About your question, I have heard about applications sent from Iran being denied.
and what most of my friends have done is that they sent their application to a relative or friend in the US and then they sent it.
So no documented restrictions for Iranians but just to be safe I would recomend doing this.

I just started studying for the Usmle and am planning to take step 1 in July.

I've seen quite a lot of iranian doctors who passed the MLE's in the late 90's before csa was born but couldn't get a visa. They either went for PLAB or stayed in Iran. but I don't know if it's still so hard to get a visa.
