A young man who was thrown from his motorcycle complained of sharp pain on his left side and held his hand over lower ribs.Radiographic studies revealed fractures of the 10 and 11th ribs. What abdominal organ was most likely injured? Why is this organ so vulnerable to injury? Can blunt trauma to other regions of the abbomen injure this organ?

spleen is injured. it is so vunerable because it lies directly in front of the 10 ans 11 ribs and a fracture to them pierces it. blunt injures can also damage the organ.

No doubt Spleen. Everybody got it right. I just want to add that chronic malaria causes splenomegaly and in such condition it is more likely to rupture even with trivail trauma

another condition where it is more susceptible to rupture is Infectious mononucleosis, where it is enlarged.
